Italian manufacturer Italeri S.p.A is known with plastic scale models of airplanes, military vehicles, helicopters, ships, trucks, and cars. Italeri was found by Giuliano Malservisi and Gian Pietro Permeggiani in 1962. The aim of Italeri is to produce accurate scale model kits with attention to detail.
Malservisi and Permeggiani started Italeri because they were dissatisfied with the model kits on the market. At the start, the company was called "Italstamp" and the first model kit released was a 1:72 scaled Italian fighter Fiat G.55. Then the name changed to Italaerei which then translated into Italeri after 10 years.
As of late, Italeri presented the Photographic Reference Manual (PRM) for certain packs, where the subject of the scale model unit is described with a high level of historical information and modeling details. The first kit PRM was the U.S. Navy patrol torpedo boat.
